I love all of these ingredients individually, but you know what’s better? Combining them all together to make these yummy apple donuts! If your kid has a hard time eating fruit, maybe try these sweet treats to get a little bit of fruit in them.

I personally think that the granny smith apple is the best apple to use for this recipe. The tartness of the apple really balances well with all the other sweet ingredients in this recipe. But if you really hate these apples, swap with the apple of your choice. I use Biscoff cookie butter, but I also know that Trader Joe’s has a good cookie butter to use if you have easier access to that. If you are a parent and just want to make this for yourself and you do not have PKU (or you have a higher tolerance) feel free to swap the cookie butter with peanut butter.

If coconut is not on your flavor profile, another option would be to drizzle caramel syrup on instead and then add the chocolate chips. You can also use white chocolate chips to switch it up. This is a quick and easy recipe to make, especially as an after school snack when the kids get home, or just a treat on the weekend.

Ingredients:

1 granny smith apple

½ cup Biscoff cookie butter (separated)

½ cup mini chocolate chips (separated)

½ cup coconut shreds (separated)

Servings per recipe: 6

Serving size: 1 apple slice

Phe per serving: 55mg

Directions:

  1. Slice the apple horizontally, and cut out the center (remove the seeds). If you have an apple corer, use that first then cut the apple horizontally.

  2. Spread the biscoff onto each apple slice.

  3. Then add the coconut shreds and chocolate chips.

  4. Serve and enjoy!
