In the summertime, I start craving fruity smoothies. My go-to combination is strawberry-banana. I love having smoothies in the summer because they are just so refreshing when it starts getting hot outside. Not only do they taste delicious, but they’re super healthy too! They are also a really easy and tasty way to get your fruit serving in for the day.

I tend to enjoy these as part of my breakfast, or in the middle of the day when it really gets hot outside. And lately, it has been HOT.  When making this smoothie, I prefer to use fresh fruit as opposed to frozen, but frozen fruit would absolutely work just as well. I use my Fruit Ninja Blender for all my smoothie-making needs.

To make this it only takes a few ingredients to make: strawberries, bananas, milk-preference (I use coffee-mate or oatmilk as those are what I use for my milk replacement for PKU, but feel free to use coconut milk or another PKU friendly alternative), and ice! I also add a little bit of fiber supplement to my smoothies, solely for the reason that when I was younger and my mom made me smoothies she added it into my smoothie. I just sort of picked up the habit from her. Feel free to leave it out.

OR………add your formula to your smoothie!! Ever have those days where you just don’t want to drink your formula? Add any powder-based formula to this smoothie as a fun way to switch up your formula. For this smoothie combo it would probably be best if your formula was strawberry, vanilla or unflavored, in my opinion. But you do you, honey. If you haven’t seen my formula popsicles yet, go check out my Neapolitan Popsicles and Orange Creamsicles. There is still a part three coming to this series as well so stay tuned.

Let me know if you want to see more smoothie combos in the future! Also, tell me what are your favorite flavors to add to smoothies?
